On May 18th, H.J.Unkel (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., in collaboration with SGS Standard Technical Services Co., Ltd. and Q-LAB Company, held the 2023 Material Aging and Corrosion Technology Seminar at the Sheraton Binhai Hotel in Tianjin.

This seminar provides detailed explanations and exchanges on the mechanism of material aging, interpretation of light aging testing standards and case analysis, corrosion testing mechanism and standard interpretation, and evaluation after aging and corrosion testing.

How long can your product be used outdoors?

Light, heat, and moisture can cause severe product aging over time, such as color changes, cracking, peeling, oxidation, or weakened strength. Damage caused by aging or corrosion can occur both indoors and outdoors, and its severity varies greatly in different climatic regions. Even if the material has certain characteristics of light or moisture resistance, it usually ages when exposed to both conditions simultaneously.

If it can be tested, please do not rely on speculation.

Outdoor natural aging and corrosion testing can provide the most realistic predictions about product performance when exposed to such environments for a long time, and such testing takes longer. Outdoor accelerated testing and laboratory accelerated testing can yield results more quickly, but there are other drawbacks.

The seminar answered two major questions: "How to improve the correlation between laboratory accelerated testing and outdoor natural aging", and "How to choose appropriate testing methods and evaluate analysis".
